Does God Attend Your Church?

Recently my wife brought an article to my attention that was written in the weekly prayer guide of a local Baptist church.  I thought it was true of so many churches today that I just had to include it in my blog:

One Sunday morning an old biker entered a church just before services were to begin.  Although the old man and his clothes were spotlessly clean, he wore jeans, a denim shirt, and boots that were very worn and ragged.  In his hand he carried a worn out bible.

The church he entered was in a very upscale and exclusive part of the city.  It was the largest and most beautiful church he had ever seen.  The people of the congregation were all dressed in expensive fashionable clothes.  As the biker took a seat, folks nearby moved away from him; they were appalled at his appearance and did not attempt to hide it.

The preacher gave a long sermon about hell-fire and brimstone and a stern lecture on how much money the church needed to do God's work.  As the old biker was leaving the church, the preacher approached him and asked him to do him a favor by not coming back again before first having a talk with God to ask Him what He thinks is the appropriate attire to wear to church.

The old biker had assured the preacher he would consult God but to the preachers amazement he showed up the following Sunday dressed as he had the prior Sunday and was again shunned and ignored.

After the service the preacher approached him and quizzed, "I thought I asked you to speak to God about your church attire before you came back to our church"?  The old biker responded, I did and but God told me he didn't have a clue what was appropriate attire to wear in your church because He had never been in it!
